Archive for June, 2010

This is another page inspired by the XOXO challenge blog.  This is from challenge #10 sponsored by Divine Design Kits.  I lifted Sarah Webb’s design here. I used a technique here from hair bow making to make the twisty grosgrain ribbon springs.

So I found tomatoes 50 cents/6-pack a few weeks ago, and just couldn’t resist even though my raised beds are full.  Sooooo…

We found a HUGE stack of 5-gallon buckets next to the side of the road and picked them up one night….

Then found a fairy to help scrub the remnants of putty and paint from them…

Drilled drainage holes…

Had a lot of fun getting wet…

Filled with good quality soil and tomatoes…

So far they seem to be doing very well.  🙂

Tentative Menu Plan

No doubt about it, this is optimistic.  Right now there is no way I’m going to feel up to cooking unless this cold/sinus mess moves on. But this is a hopeful menu plan. Also, it’s leaning a lot more towards soup than we usually do this time of year, but that’s also due to feeling sick. 😦

Monday: B) eggs, peppers, onions L) split pea soup S) cheese sticks, melon D) salad with grilled chicken (frozen from last week)

Tuesday: B) yogurt and blueberries L) homemade tomato soup  S) nuts D) baked tilapia with mango salsa and salad

Wednesday: B) oatmeal L) spinach and mushroom quesadillas S) fruit D) turkey chili

Thursday:  B) yogurt and berries L) leftover chili (or playdate) S) nuts D) spinach quiche (spelt crust) and salad

Friday:  B) eggs and veggies L) leftover quiche D) gardenburgers and sauteed veggies

Saturday: B) out L) leftovers, salad D) leftovers, salad

I finally got some inspiration! Only problem is that I was supposed to be working on pages for my grandma’s album and there is no way on earth this is going to fit in an album.  We’re talking more like three-inch deep shadow box here.  🙂

I got inspiration from challenge #10 at the XOXO Challenge Blog sponsored by Divine Design Kits.  I chose to scraplift layout #1 by Emma Ruth Fronda.

Background is created by inking and sliding a chunk of corrugated cardboard across some kraft cardstock.

I made the flowers by sewing together different shades of crinkled seam binding from Bluebird Lane on etsy (the tag is also from the same shop).

Monday found us out at the blueberry patch! Of course, she ate as many as she picked.  So yummy!

All subject to change, but here’s a plan. I spent FOREVER grilling stuff today so that it would be done for part of the week.  It’s too hot to go out there every day and I want grilled food!

Monday – B) eggs and veggies L) salad S) veggies and dip D) stuffed chicken breast with grilled veggies

Tuesday – B) yogurt and blueberries L) steak fajitas S) veggies and dip D) salad

Wednesday – B) oatmeal L) veggie stir fry with brown rice S) nuts D) hot dogs and grilled veggies

Thursday – B) eggs and veggies L) tuna or chicken wraps S) veggies and dip D)leftovers

Friday – B) egg muffins L) whole wheat pasta salad S) yogurt and berries D) leftovers, book group

Saturday – B) out? L) leftovers D) taco salad

All of this may change, based on Matt’s schedule, but here’s what I’m working with.  Lots of  stuff that won’t heat up the kitchen.  🙂

After thinking about it for MONTHS, I’ve started the process of combining my blogs into one. There will be a lot of tweaking going on as I import years of family blogging into this one blog. No longer just scrapbooking, this blog will be about everything in our lives. Hopefully, this will allow me to keep things more up to date. And it will definitely give you a better look at what our lives are really about. 🙂
