Muppets

Tonight Matt and I got The Great Muppet Caper to watch for fun. We turned it on and suddenly Autumn was glued to the TV. Usually if there is something on she’ll look at the TV for a few seconds and then lose interest. She generally prefers to just talk with us or play with her gym…But it turns out she really likes the Muppets. 🙂 She watched almost the entire movie and only fell asleep at the very end.

After Autumn’s last bath she was so happy, I just couldn’t resist pulling out the camera.

Meeting the horses

Autumn wasn’t sure what to make of the big horses, but she liked Shorty. He was pretty interested too.

Christmas

We had a great Christmas this year. We started out on the night before Christmas Eve by driving the 30+ minutes to go get coffee at Starbucks. We hardly ever go out for coffee anymore, so it was a real treat, despite the drive. (And the pumpkin spice latte was just right. :-))

On Christmas Eve we went to the 8:00 communion service at our church. After the service and communion, we filed out onto the lawn and lit candles and sang. Stopped at Waffle House after that and then home for the annual viewing of Die Hard. (Yes, it is a Christmas movie.)

In the morning we got up and opened presents. Autumn doesn’t quite get it yet, but she liked all the colors and the paper. I think she would have been a lot more excited if we had let her eat the paper, like she wanted to. After a while, we headed over to Matt’s parent’s house for Christmas dinner and more presents. Autumn also got to go outside and visit with the horses. She liked Shorty best, since he’s closest to her size.

Then Autumn stayed with her grandma, while Matt and I went out to see Narnia. It’s still a little strange when we go out without her. I’m always expecting her to be next to me, and I have to keep reminding myself where she is.

Overall, it was just nice to take things slow and really enjoy the time together.

Merry Christmas!

Balloons!

Autumn got to bring home some balloons from the Christmas party…and discovered her new favorite thing.

Christmas Party

Tonight we went to a Christmas party and Autumn met Santa. She wasn’t very impressed with him, but she did like the decorations. Especially the lollipops.

Yesterday was birthday number 25. We didn’t do any of the traditional birthday things. No party, no cake. But we did something better. Sticking with the tradition that my family has always followed, my birthday is the day to get The Tree.

We started out going to a cut-your-own farm, but they were sold out of pines! I know that around here, you’re supposed to use a leyland cypress, but for some reason, I just can’t see them as Christmas trees. They look to me like overgrown shrubs–great for windbreaks, wrong for the middle of the living room covered in lights.

We were headed back to get online and see if we could find any other cut-your-own places around here, when we passed a small gardening place with trees in the front. We drove past a couple of times trying to decide if they had Christmas trees or just trees for landscaping. We stopped. They had beautiful trees, and they were pines. 🙂 We picked the perfect one, and only then found out that it was about half of the marked price, since we were getting it so late. ;-D

We got it home and eventually got it up. Spent forever on the lights (isn’t that the most annoying part of a tree?) and I made a bow for the top and ran wired ribbon over the whole tree.

Technically, I suppose most people would say it takes up too much of our living room. But I like fat Christmas trees. I took a picture, but it didn’t turn out as well as I would like, guess I still need to figure out how to use this camera.

Autumn likes the lights and the big silver balls that she can see herself in.
